The first of the series to hit the Megadrive Thunderforce II is Tecnosoft’s quite good conversion from the X68000 original to Sega’s machine. It features both side scrooling and 8 way top down levels wich was quite unique at the time (1988). Loads of excelent weapons!

THUNDERFORCE3 サンダーフォース3 MD
The Thunder Force series is just plain awesome and this is the game that started making the series quite popular among Shoot-’em-Up fans: Thunder Force II. It’s not THE original Thunder Force II(that one was released exclusively in Japan on the Sharp X68000) but rather its rerelease on the MegaDrive/Genesis: Thunder Force II MD(released simply as Thunder Force II in North America and Europe). It’s a cut-down Thunder Force II but I prefer this version simply because the Sharp X68000 original is just WAY TOO DAMN HARD. So here’s Thunder Force II MD for the Sega MegaDrive/Sega Genesis. Played on my Japanese Sega MegaDrive Model 1(non-TMSS).
